Just one look at this day will leave you longing to have a fall wedding. Neutral and fall color tones were paired together to create a simple and elegant aesthetic. It was important for Catie and Steve to have a timeless feel to their photos, especially when they are still viewing them 50 years down the road. They loved their venue because it was a blank canvas that they could do anything they wanted with.

I asked Catie about her wedding gown, and she said: “I’m pretty sure I went into dress shopping thinking that I was going to buy an A-line gown that was all lace and had no embellishments. But I ended up purchasing the exact opposite! My dress was the Pronovias Dante gown, and I bought it from Dress Your Fancy in Vestal. It was a satin gown in a mermaid silhouette with a cathedral train and off-the-shoulder sleeves. I told the owner, Shelly, what I was looking for, and she had pulled this gown for me while I was looking at all the lacy, A-line dresses. All I can say is that this was THE dress that made me feel like a bride. I loved that the dress felt simple yet detailed at the same time.

Steve and his groomsmen rented their attire through The Black Tux. They highly recommend The Black Tux to future brides and grooms!

The church ceremony was special because Steve was the fourth of his siblings to get married there. Steve was raised Irish Catholic, and Catie went through becoming catholic in 2021. They went through the process together, and the Eucharistic minister was the instructor. It made the process feel full circle. In addition, Steve’s family was close friends with the priest who performed the ceremony, which was his first. All of these details made the ceremony so special.

Catie said, “The first time I cried on our wedding day was when the flowers arrived while we were getting
ready. The bouquets were perfect arrangements of all of the fall colors I love, and they looked absolutely stunning with my girls’ Azazie taupe dresses. I dried one of the bouquets, and it’s now sitting on my nightstand.

For Catie and Steve, the primary goal for their wedding day was to make sure that it reflected them as a couple. Dinosaur Barbecue was the obvious choice for food, and it was a great way to bring Catie’s hometown to their wedding.

They both are big Beer Tree fans and had a keg from Beer Tree to enjoy during cocktail hour. Also, instead of favors, they made a donation to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue in Syracuse. Their dog, Jeter, was rescued
from Texas by Helping Hounds, and he is our pride and joy. They were honored to give back to Helping Hounds in their wedding day’s honor.

Catie was inspired to do it herself when decorating for the reception. The Venue at Beagell Farms is more rustic space, and they wanted to keep the decor classic and straightforward. She had terrific finds on the Facebook Marketplace, along with some trips to local fleamarkets. The pallet was beige, burnt orange, burgundies, and gold accents. The gorgeous farmhouse tables and chairs were dreamy and added to the elegant rustic aesthetic of the venue. Catie’s favorite decor pieces were the copper pipe seating chart sign. Lighting was important to them, so they used a ton of bistro lights which added a friendly warm glow as the sun went down.

I asked the sweet couple to leave some parting advice for future couples getting married and they said:

The most significant piece of advice we have is to remember that it’s your day as a couple. You should do the things that make you happy. Listen to the suggestions that your friends and family provide you with, but make decisions together that make the most sense for the two of you. Make sure to take a minute together to take everything in on the big day! On the other hand, also remember that this is just one day. There will be times when you’re feeling overwhelmed with planning, but remember that life will carry on after your wedding. The relationship between you and your partner and the life you are building together should be more beautiful than the wedding day itself.
